Two-stage, or otherwise called a dual-stage furnace, is more efficient than single-stage furnaces as there are multiple settings that will better match what your home needs in the moment. They generally have a high setting that is used on the coldest nights, or if you are looking to raise the temperature quickly and a medium setting that will maintain temperature and burn less fuel. You get more temperature control with this style, and although they are more expensive than single-stage, their efficiency will lower your overall utility bills.

This is a question that we get a lot, and the answer is it will depend on your specific home and your needs. Fry does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to furnace installations and furnace replacements. Instead, we will work with you to find a furnace that will fit your needs and your budget and, most importantly, will heat your home properly. However, if you are at Doc Watson’s on a Friday night, the most likely answer from our technician's mouth would be a natural gas modulating furnace from Trane, Rheem, or York.
It is best to maintain your furnace at least once a year, preferably in the Fall before the heating season starts. Fry can provide all of your annual maintenance needs and ensure that your furnace is ready to go when you need it most.
